Susan Hyon,Yoga and Theater Instructor at Enrich Learning, received a BA in Economics from Smith College, and an MFA in Theater from Columbia University. As a Fulbright ETA scholar in South Korea, she taught English to large classrooms of high-school aged boys. Susan holds a Yoga Alliance 200-hr certification and has completed four, 10-day silent meditation courses as taught by S.N. Goenka. Susan aims to practice or serve one 10-day course annually, and find her way to Krishnamacharya Yoga Mandiram (KYM) in Chennai, India, where the heart of yoga is so preciously taught.
Given that yoga is a system of self-investigation that originated in India, Susan decided to deepen her studies by training at the KYM. Coursework is comprehensive: Anatomy and Physiognomy, Ayurveda, Yoga Philosophy, Classical Asana Technique (Application and Therapy), Principles and Practice of Pranayama, Theory and Practice of Meditation, Mantras and Chanting, and Samskritam. As a practitioner, the path for living a happy existence continues to reveal itself, through all of life’s vicissitudes. Susan’s greatest joy is to share the wealth of teachings that have been passed down to her, to all students of life!
Susan teaches yoga privately in one on one sessions and in small groups at offices, universities, theater festivals and performance venues. She has given talks and lessons at NAACP Legal Defense Fund and Columbia University in NYC, the William Inge Center in Independence, Kansas, and as far as the Kyrgyz Republic for Yara Arts, in addition to many other locales and settings. She is thrilled at the prospect of getting to know each and every student and parent or guardian who comes in contact with Enrich Learning.
